A Love Letter to the NHL pt.4 JT

Blackhawks defenseman Jarred Tinordi has had quite the injury-riddled season. On December 9, Tinordi returned to the ice after missing 5 games due to a hip injury.

Within seconds of the game starting Tinordi takes a skate to the jaw and it slices open his Jaw. Winnipeg Jets forward, Michael Eyssimont's, skate clipped Tinordi's jaw as they fought for the puck on the boards.

I was watching the game and remember no one knew what happened, there was just a stoppage due to blood on the ice. The only video shows Tinordi go down, then come back up and continue to play, using his glove to touch his face checking for blood.

Tinordi quietly exits the game and heads to the locker room. At the start of the second period Tinordi is back on the bench with a full face shield and some bandages on his face.

It wasn't until days later and after some searching to find out he had been cut with the skate and received 50-100 stitches...

My main takeaway was that HE RETURNED TO PLAY THE GAME. I can't imagine another sport where an athlete would have such a serious injury and just "throw some dirt on it" and keep playing the game.

Unfortunately, 9 days later, Tinordi's first game without the full face shield, he is hit in the face with the puck and leaves the game. He is now on the IR and has had surgery to repair his multiple face fractured.
